Description
Galvanized Malleable Iron Locknut
A galvanized malleable iron locknut is used to secure threaded conduit, fittings, glands, or pipe fittings in position, preventing them from loosening after installation. The thin nut locks threaded components against a surface, holding assemblies firmly in place over time.
Manufactured from malleable cast iron, the locknut offers good impact resistance and machinability compared with standard cast iron, along with greater strength and reduced brittleness. The zinc coating applied through hot dip galvanizing protects the component against corrosion, making it suitable for water, air, gas, and general utility services.
This locknut is found across plumbing, water distribution, HVAC, electrical conduit, fire protection, marine, and industrial pipework installations, wherever threaded fittings need to be locked against a panel, wall, enclosure, or fitting.
Applications:
- Securing threaded conduit through electrical enclosures
- Locking threaded pipe fittings in place
- Fixing cable glands
- Tank and vessel penetrations
- Instrumentation fittings
- Water and compressed air systems
Summary:
- Locks threaded fittings in place
- Manufactured from galvanized malleable iron
- Zinc coated finish for corrosion protection
- Good impact resistance and machinability
- Used in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and marine industries
